The Police - Message in a Bottle

A segunda banda vem de Londres, um pouco mais antiga, mas com repercussão também na década de 80 e, curiosamente, seu vocalista, assim como o Morrissey, abandonou o grupo para seguir uma carreira-solo de sucesso. Estamos falando do Sting.
(A diferença é que o Police voltou muitos anos depois, sonho que muitos fãs dos Smiths devem invejar, mas sabemos que, pela forma como a banda se desfez, seria utópico imaginar essa reunião do Morrissey com seus ex-companheiros).
Quanto ao Police, eu destaco como pontos positivos a virtuosidade do Sting em voz e execução de contrabaixo, além da forma alternativa como a banda monta seus arranjos, passando pelo post-punk e pelo reggae, indo ao new wave e fechando o pacote em pop rock, uma salada que transforma a discografia em algo que pode vir a ser criticado por quem não os curta, mais jamais sob o argumento de que eles seriam pobres em execução e grandes influências.
A canção escolhida se encontra no álbum Reggatta de Blanc de 1979, que foi o disco que projetou realmente o Police para um destaque real em toda a década de 80.
O vídeo traz a primeira execução dela ao vivo, no Hatfield Polytechnic College, em seu ano de lançamento.
