Hoje começo uma saga das canções que mais ouvi nesse Carnaval, para que vocês possam ter idéia de como foram "tradicionais" esses dias. Hoje começo com Ramones. Creio que eu deva ter ouvido essa música umas quinze vezes nesses últimos quatro dias, seja bebendo com amigos, em vários locais diferentes, ou simplesmente guiando o carro. A canção original é do Trashmen, do álbum homônimo Surfin' Bird, de 1964, e os Ramones a gravaram em seu melhor disco, o Rocket to Russia, de 1977.

Se na Inglaterra ninguém superou o Punk Rock dos Sex Pistols, nos Estados Unidos a mesma hegemonia eu reservo aos Ramones, e tenho dito. Creio eu que seja essa uma das bandas mais freak de todos os tempos, o que cai como uma luva para todo o conjunto da obra que envolve o grupo, desde seu som "sujo" até suas formas "bizarras" e peculiares de se vestir. De forma diferente dos Pistols, o Ramones lançou uma porrada de discos, muitos chegando aos topos de paradas em todo o Mundo, outros tendo certo fracasso, mas em termos de proporção, a banda jamais teve nenhuma queda significativa, manteve-se sempre consistente, concisa, fiel às filosofias dos trabalhos anteriores, evoluindo na medida certa, ignorando virtuosidades e crescendo em simplicidade. Esse vídeo é um dos melhores que já assisti, pois no palco vemos um dueto histórico entre Eddie Vedder e Joey Ramone, executando uma antiga canção do Dave Clark Five, de 1964, no Pallace, em Hollywood, no ano de 1996. Quem conhece um pouco da história que envolve essa relação entre Vedder e os Ramones, sabe da importância e do prazer que representa essa união no palco, praticamente uma relação de pai pra filho.
